Computer videogames is a topic that no one from the photographic index (2007 group) has chosen to work with, but there is a lot of photographic work out there, looking at young videogamers. It is a topic next year we’ll work on as I will make sure it gets incorporated into the project on youth (sub)cultures. A related topic is always the one of violence and the impact of video games on youth. Edmund Wong has just published on youtube a six-part documentary titled “Videogame Violence & Effects on Youth”. He is a graduate student at San Jose’ State University School of Journalism & Mass Communications
part 1: Introduction & Background on Games
part 2: Mortal Kombat & the ESRB
Part 3: Doom and the Columbine Massacre
Part 4: Addiction & Grand Theft Auto Controversy
Part 5: California Videogame Law
Part 6: Causation and Correlation. Final Thoughts
